Shor's algorithm alone and the possibility of being able to break public key encryption is the sole reason why companies and governments will continue to throw money at this non-stop. Doesn't matter if they have no practical applications beyond that.

Experimental merchant PoS app that is able to request ecash from Satocash smartcards.
