Obviously I don’t know the intricacies of people’s lives, but I’m seeing a lot of people ending up with level 2 diagnosis’ who are stating that they don’t need much support and live quite independently. I know there’s always the possibility that they don’t know their own support needs and maybe the professional sees more than they do. But it does just feel a bit weird how many are coming through with level 2 and 3 autism, especially level 2, and claiming they have very little to no support needed and are independent in living. It’s also frustrating, because if professionals are doing this to try and get the autistic person support, then it’s really backfiring because level 2s and level 3s are also losing support. It’s not an easy access to support for any autistic. The autism I have, the autism I was taught about, feels like it only exists in very niche spaces. All the terms I’ve learned with autism just don’t seem to matter anymore and people are making up whatever meaning they want to it. Language evolves, I get it. One of my biggest pet peeves is when you learn about certain terms in psychology or medicine from… One of my biggest pet peeves is when you learn about certain terms in psychology or medicine from professionals and use that knowledge, because you are either dealing with it or you know someone who is, and someone on the internet has to jump in claiming they have a psyche degree or are some form of psyche and everything you said was wrong. Meaning the professionals you have talked to must have all been lying or just not educated enough. Especially when the professionals you see are some of the top in their fields with clearances and experiences other professionals don’t have. It’s like being “mansplained” but by psyches online.
