Hi ☺️ Yes, that’s exactly how I fell down the Bitcoin rabbit hole. One day you earn your first satoshi in a game, and a few months later—if you’re not careful—you end up running a node! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Hi 👋🏻 Small typo: it's MPTCP (Multipath TCP), not mctcp 😉 For context, Go 1.24+ listens via MPTCP by default, and the release turns that off for lnd. Linux check (needs a recent iproute2): sudo ss -Mltnp | grep lnd. If lnd shows up, it's still listening via MPTCP. Thanks for the heads-up, and have a great day! ⚡
Such a positive mindset! Though I often think that true awareness in this kind of world comes with a bit of a bittersweet cost—the more you understand, the harder it is to unsee. But having kindred spirits to share the journey with makes all the difference. 🫶🏻
I’m struggling with this; it’s becoming difficult to perform a circular rebalance without getting bled dry by the mega-hubs—I’m absolutely fed up with `block-iad-1`, and even BOS is having a hard time finding me routes that don’t pass through their exorbitant toll points 😵😫😵💫
Fiat, Bitcoin, Lightning: did we just move the vampires? 🤔💭 Lately, I’ve been having some bitter thoughts about where all this is heading. Whether we use fiat or bitcoin, I feel like we always end up fattening the exact same corporate mastodons. Let’s look at the reality of the whole chain: • On the mining side: The myth of the average user finding a block at home is gone. It's all massive industrial data centers raking it in. • On the Lightning side: It’s the same story. Liquidity giants, already loaded from the start, dominate the major routing nodes with sometimes abusive fees. Since they own the main highways, everything goes through them: we’re getting vampirized. • On the State and tax side: And that’s not even counting the law. In France, for example, the slightest purchase in Bitcoin (even without going back to fiat) is theoretically subject to capital gains tax as soon as you exceed €305 in annual spending, with a 30% hit. The tax trap closes on us either way. In short, we decentralized the protocol, but we just recreated ogres and recentralized capital. So... what do we do? Is there even a way out? Honestly, I don’t have a miracle solution. I just feel like we're going in circles: between mega-hubs stuffing themselves at the network's expense and the State watching our every cent, the math just doesn't add up. Deep down, it’s hard not to be pissed off at this endless greed. When you see ultra-rich people always wanting more, while their descendants for the next 100 years couldn't possibly spend it all even living better than 70% of the planet, you wonder what the point is. It feels like we're just fuel for a machine that stacks up capital for profiteers. How do you guys analyze this situation? Do you manage to not feel trapped, or is this just the common fate for everyone? #Bitcoin #Sovereignty #Capitalism
Thank you 😊
That’s very kind of you, but I’d feel uncomfortable asking for tests when I could technically run them myself using my own funds by setting up a second test account. 😅 That said, I’d be curious to know how much you ended up paying in Lightning fees—just to see if my current connectivity is sufficient, or if I should consider opening channels with peers that are closer to the routes typically taken by these zaps ⚡️
Avec plaisir, je vais en poster quelques unes dans mes prochaines notes 😉 Merci pour le follow et le like 🙏
Thanks so much for the zap! 🙏 Not only does it mean a lot to me, but—unbeknownst to you—I was actually in the middle of testing how the whole zap display and process work on Nostr for my Lightning address. You’ve saved me the trouble of having to spin up a second account just to test it out myself! 😁
How much practice took place between these two paintings? The answer is simple: one Inktober! In 2024, having started with watercolors only a month earlier, I decided to take part in Inktober with some friends. I set myself a constraint: I would only create monochrome watercolor pieces, and I wouldn’t reuse any of the paint from my pans. I drew the same sketch—a titmouse—twice, painting one version just before Inktober and the other just after. By removing color theory from the process, I was able to get a feel for how water behaves and to explore each individual pigment in my palette.
Thank you so much! Really glad that piece caught your eye among the feed! It’s a very personal, symbolic piece for me. Did that scene evoke any specific story or feeling for you when you saw it? And thanks for the warm welcome! 🙏
