Anybody want some of that free money - who's not going to vote for that?🤦 "housing should be a human right in UK law" with "a UBI enough so everybody can cover their basics and feed their children without worrying"..."we are ready to do it" - Andy Burnham (2023) So ok you say that sounds great, let's examine the funding mechanics: It will initially to funded by more progressive taxation via state confiscation of private wealth. This will include a new structured Land Value Taxes (LTV), Value-Added Taxes (VAT), increased Capital Gains Taxes, increased Death Duties, a Wealth Tax and likely a special Tax on AI, Automation and the digital economy. Any gaps then filled through further borrowing / direct money printing. Don't assume your SIPPs and SSASs will be shielded forever! Proponents will argue this is true Trickle-up economics where money is brought into the economy through meeting everybody's basic needs. They will also argue it sustains market demand and keep the wheels turning but totally fail to admit that those subjected to these taxes will seek to mitigate their taxes and look further into taxation arbitrage and relocate to jurisdictions where they are treated best. (The Laffer Curve) The only way they can then stop/slow down this brain and capital drain is going to be an heavy Exit Tax and an increase in the High Surveillence State! As I've been saying for about 8 years. Don't go thinking you'll be able to sneek those gold bars out on the quiet either! 😂 If only they was something that you can invest the fruits of your labour into - that you can transport over time and space and that can't be taken away...😁
