😂😂😂 - I’m a Brit so it may as well be. I know I’m pushing strongly on this but I do have a strong opinion. It seems like the term has been adopted without bitcoiners knowing the real negative impact it can bring from outside the bitcoin community.

Well Bekka, this is simply not true, it depends on your own definition of relevant I guess and whether other people agree with it. Britain is a pretty big economy and I don’t feel it’s helpful for Brits to be associating bitcoiners as plebs just because we labeled ourselves as such from the beginning. People we’re trying to attract to bitcoin simply don’t understand the irony “we’re” trying to convey from the outset. From their side, it just makes us look amateurish and foolish
I see where you’re coming from Bekka! But the word “cunt” is a bit different. You could argue “pleb” is not of the same ilk but i believe it is. It makes no sense to put ourselves down from the outset in the name of humility.
Calling ourselves “plebs” has no positive connotations on the outside world. Stating an 18 year old Satoshi comment helps nobody, and has no meaning in this context.
I think the point was more to make us look more humble, we are just “plebs”, but in fact the word is so derogatory that calling us a bunch of “cunts” is on a similar level, maybe slightly worse. I don’t understand how this can ever give us a good look outside of our bitcoin bubble, even if we go with your explanation Ben. Obviously I wish all bitcoin businesses like all the best, but a brand name like that has a dreadful look outside of our bitcoin community bubble.
I can’t believe bitcoiners are using the word “pleb” to describe themselves. It’s such an incredibly derogatory word, only Brit’s who grew up in the 80s truly understand this.
