It’s so sad that Web3 had to become associated with less-than-ideal ventures such as NFTs and infinite memecoins, what some bitcoiners call sh🤬coins. Right now you could see it as Web1+2; the sovereignty and openness of Web1 with the immediacy and ease of Web2. That experience is represented well on Nostr; i just don’t know how we get people to realize that Nostr and Bitcoin are a good thing.

I’m still glad that some people are choosing the Fediverse and Bluesky; they provide more freedom than the big companies do. But they don’t have the monetization and portable identities of Nostr. And all you need in the US to get some sats is a Cash App account.

It’s too bad that that app is mostly for public chats since it’s based on the Bitchat geohash structure 😔

I tend to use a Nostr browser extension (nos2x, Nostr Connect, etc) for desktop so I don’t have to keep my iPhone up. The remote thing is good for quick temporary sign-ins though.

Nostr’s versatility also helps fight encrapification. created a custom note type for the Bitchat geohash rooms. There’s probably tons of note types beyond just the main ones used by the (micro)blogging apps. It has a similar spirit to the AT Protocol (Bluesky’s architecture), but is more decentralized

It would be nice if there was a way to buy bitcoin in the Primal wallet menu, but at least has pretty good Lightning support in their Bitcoin exchange and a lot of people already know what Cash App is

Sadly the TwiXter importer on ownmyposts is slightly broken… I sometimes use it if I need to sync my Nostr profile with recent Twitter events. May want that thing to avoid replies

I've mostly been following XMTP, another messaging technology developed within the Ethereum community. It's not a single app like Session is but there are multiple apps like Nod and Wave that support XMTP's technology. They even made their own app called Convos that is one of the most versatile single chat apps I've ever seen, designed around invite only chats with the ability to delete the entire chat for everyone. Sad that Session is having trouble staying afloat, I hope XMTP and SimpleX can keep going if Session fails :<
