I think I read that Brin and Musk were friends, with Elon crashing on his couch. Theoretically, that could be another set of 'laptops'. And them maybe the sets were switched to others who were unaware they were acting something out, which space cameras or whatever else picked up, which could then be transferred elsewhere, etcetera.
