It’s definitely not
Are all the girls named Roxie gone now? Has that name died out officially?
Arguably the most important thing
I’ve been an atheist most of my adult life (a very antagonistic one as well). This quote from the opening of The Rule of St. Benedict has really shifted that in the past couple of years. Stop telling what you know, either out loud or in your own head, and just be quiet and listen - instead of running through all the reasons for something, just ask and listen. Even the quiet observation of what I hear has been impactful in today’s world. I don’t preach to anyone and I still am working on what I believe is true or not - but I would like to find as much truth in this life as possible.
“Act as if what you do makes a difference. It does” - William James
A huge unlock for society would be to select for individuals who do not exhibit high scores for personality disorders like narcissism/borderline/psychopathy/etc. There is no political system that can survive when power selects for these sorts of individuals.
You are here 🎯 “In a world where abundance is possible, it is a flawed system that gives rise to extreme inequality. The output of that inequality will lead to a negative feedback loop of more extremism.”
We are returning to the age of empire. Keep your mind whole and focus on what you control. “Be indifferent to events beyond the will’s control.” - Epictetus “He dies for lack of discipline, and because of his great folly he is lost.” - Proverbs 5:21-23
"...in so far as society is itself composed of de-individualized human beings, it is completely at the mercy of ruthless individualists. Let it band together into groups and organizations as much as it likes - it is just this banding together and the resultant extinction of the individual personality that makes it succumb so readily to a dictator. A million zeroes joined together do not, unfortunately, add up to one." - Carl Jung
