Tried a handful, but looking for a good desktop alternative to amethyst. I use nostrudel at the moment but the version I am on is a bit buggy and the newer ones are taking communities away. I want a desktop or html5 desktop client. Not something with a whole server backend.
I will stand by using and promoting freedom respecting tech.
Problem is that it became culturally unacceptable to do that. So having an app alert to those nearby that you do want to get in touch is an interesting solution.
It might but its up to you what you put in the app. If its truly mainstream as a privacy friendly tinder alternative I don't see it being an issue. If your putting all kinds of dissenting topics in there in a country that polices for those your a target yes.
Same as a dating thing or as a friend making thing. On a busy train station theres thousands of people I walk past and not a single one do I know if I have anything in common with. I hope it gets made and gets popular.
Yes, basically p2p tinder without the servers in between alerting you when someone interesting is near you.
Its on the github action builds, no self compile needed.
Should always be an option to download backup installers somewhere in your library. Those will be the classic gog offline installers.
It can be, if the feature is optional client side someone could do this same trick as an automatic nostr proxy which then can be added as a relay. That way if opted out and with the proxy the data shifts to the datacenter. That will help users where bandwith is critical.
Bitcoin doesnt make sense since its also trackable. Would have to be a privacy coin, the very kind of cojn they are pushing the exchanges to ban. Nostr is a big asset yes, i'd also recommend matrix as long as its not matrix.org's homeserver which is UK based and now subject to the AI safety act. Decentralization isn't fully immune to any of this, but it vastly reduces the impact. Because yes my matrix homeserver got hit so I am hit despite not being british. But I moved to a US based homeserver (https://matrix.unredacted.org) whivh has an anticensorship stance. So now the UK safety act can't touch me again. Same thing here. One of the media hosts here is going to comply. But most of the blossum instances aren't. So do your fellow nostriches a favor and switch to a blossum instance for media.
I dont think so because it seems to be outbox only. I dont know how much background traffic it does just to have them on standby though.
I'm pretty new to Nostr so I didn't set that up yet neither do I have an app that can act as such a wallet.
Ask yourself why they do it. And if your uncertain and good at it you can craft a situation or organically have a situation where you can force their hand at revealing themselves. For example lets say someone is always making an excuse for something. You can then remove the excuse and if they still refuse that shows true character. If the excuse was genuine they will be glad its removed. And most importantly, don't just look at how they treat you look at how they treat everyone else and if thats consistent.
How do relays work on nostr? Do they forward messages between each other or is the goal to just be on multiple at once with you being isolated to those with the same relays as you? #asknostr
At least its more shielded than other platforms that fell victim to this because people can use multiple relays at once. If primal went rogue and decoupled they can login to their ID on anything else which they can then continue to use seamlessly. That kinda stuff wasn't possible on mastodon which allowed gab to decouple.
Interesting. Is there a privacy coin you like more?
Sysadmin | AI Entertainment Enthousiast | Game Server Operator | Liberal Nationalist - There is only a paradox if you don't admit it See me post with a really long address on mastodon? That's a bridge. My real profile is : https://ditto.pub/@[email protected]
